A Shure replacement stylus will restore your Shure cartridge to its originally specified performance levels. We strongly advise against the use of non-Shure styli with our cartridges. Such imitations will not perform the same as the stylus being replaced, and, more importantly, could cause permanent damage to your records - severe mistracking can ruin a record in a single play.

The replacement stylus slides effortlessy in and out of the main body and comes in a nice plastic case of it's own in case you want to save the old stylus. this cartridge and stylus give exceptionally clean tight resolved bass and bottom end. It's hard to review the replacement stylus without reviewing the whole cartridge-the stylus don't do much by itself. The stylus tracks at a extremely light.7-1.0 gram minimizing record wear andgiving an ability to reproduce difficult passages. The old stylus was used well over a year and still sounded very good but the new replacemnt did improve sound quality and was well worth it. The Shure M97 cartridge is widely considered the best value in budget audiophile cartridges even at it's normal list of $149.00 though new ones can be had various places in the range of $80-90.00. The outstanding features are a detail retrieval that rivals or surprasses other MM cartridges costing hundreds of dollars and possibly even matches some of the lower end moving coil cartridges.
Nothing else to say but it sounds great. This is the best available reasonably priced cartridge going.
